1. What’s your story?
I graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2012 having studied Industrial Economics and shortly after began work for a UK based wealth manager where I worked closely with financial advisors providing outsourced investment solutions.
From there I moved into a consultancy role where I was for 2 years before moving to Alpha in March 2017. Within the first few months of joining Alpha I had already gained experience at three different asset managers delivery strategy solutions before settling in at an industry renowned asset manager to help with a long-term business change project.
2. Describe a project you have recently worked on?
I recently completed a 7-month stint at a UK based asset manager delivering business change that involved multiple projects and spinning a number of plates at any one time! This particular asset manager operated in a very unique way compared to the industry, working in an agile environment, so it was an amazing opportunity to learn and quickly adapt to a new way of working. Most recently I worked on revising their corporate governance structure, reviewing their legal function and revamping their Compliance Monitoring Programme – it was a fantastic experience and gave me significant client exposure as I directly reported into their Head of Business Change and CEO.
3. What’s been your favourite moment at Alpha so far?
The day Alpha went public – it was such an exciting time around the office, a real buzz in the air! Seeing the pictures come through from the London Stock Exchange, where they had plastered our logo across their screens, and reading all the press cuttings was a fantastic experience. It was great to be here for that transition from private to public; highlighting how quickly we are growing and the brand recognition we have in the industry.
4. What are you looking forward to most at Alpha?
My own development. There is such a high calibre of staff here to surround yourself with / measure yourself against, so having the opportunity to keep learning from those that I am working with and developing at the rate I have been since joining is very exciting…and the summer conference in Italy of course!
5. What advice would you give anyone who wanted to join Alpha?
DO IT, you won’t regret your decision! When I was applying I was split between two choices and haven’t thought about the other since. I think you will struggle to get as good an opportunity to work for a company that is as dynamic, entrepreneurial and flat structured with a reputation that Alpha has anywhere else.
